About Nichola Deane

Nichola Deane is an award-winning, Laureate's Choice poet, writer and teacher.


Her first full collection, Cuckoo, was published in 2019 by V.Press. Her second pamphlet, Trieste (Smith Doorstop, 2015) was selected by Carol Ann Duffy as a Laureate’s Choice. Her first pamphlet, My Moriarty, won the 2012 Flarestack Poetry Pamphlet Prize, and was selected as Autumn Pamphlet Choice 2012 by the PBS. Her poems have been published in a variety of magazines, among them Poetry London, Archipelago, Magma, Oxford Poetry, The SHOp, The Moth, The North. The Rialto has more than once nominated her poems for the Forward, and ‘Yesterday’s Child’ was Highly Commended in the 2014 Prize. ‘My Moriarty’ was selected for the Best of Poetry London Anthology of 2014, and she has twice been longlisted for the National Poetry Competition.
